Proud moment for Lions with the unveiling of the Veterans’ Bench in Caldicot

It was a pleasure for Chepstow and Caldicot Lions to attend the official unveiling of a special memorial bench in Caldicot, created to honour and support our veterans.

It was heartening to see so many veterans, their families and local townspeople gathered together at Caldicot Cross. Their presence reflects the warmth and strength of our community, as well as the deep respect and gratitude we feel for those who have served our country.

Behind every veteran is a story of courage, commitment and sacrifice. We also recognise the families who supported them through periods of absence, uncertainty and change. Their patience and strength deserve our heartfelt thanks. The service and sacrifice of our veterans and their families should never be forgotten. We hope this Lions sponsored bench will serve as a lasting reminder that their contribution matters and that they remain an important part of our community.

Chepstow and Caldicot Lions are proud to have funded the bench as a contribution to the local town. We hope it provides a welcoming place to sit, reflect and remember.

Our sincere thanks go to Ron Bennett and his fellow veterans, whose hard work and dedication made this project possible. Ron organised the fundraising and today’s unveiling, while continuing his valuable work supporting veterans and their families across the local area. His commitment is truly admirable, and the difference he makes is deeply appreciated.

Lion Nick Robinson was honoured to be invited to officially unveil the bench on behalf of Chepstow and Caldicot Lions, and we were delighted that we were able to take part in this meaningful occasion.

As Lions, our motto is "We Serve". This bench may be a simple gesture, but it carries a heartfelt message of remembrance, gratitude and support. It reflects our commitment to standing alongside our community and recognising those who have given so much to others.

On behalf of Chepstow and Caldicot Lions, thank you to everyone who attended, especially our veterans and their families. We hope that whenever people see or use this bench, they will pause to remember the service and sacrifice of our veterans, the unwavering support of their families and the importance of looking after one another.
