Chepstow and Caldicot Lions has proudly donated funds to support the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of St. Mary’s RC Primary School in Chepstow. The donation contributes to the development of a dedicated nurture room designed to offer vulnerable students a calm and supportive space.

Lion President Denise personally presented the funds to Rhiannon from the St. Mary’s PTA, specifically supporting the purchase of two sofas that will form part of a comfortable seating area within the room.

Nurture rooms play a vital role in helping children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), trauma backgrounds, or emotional vulnerabilities, regulate their emotions and develop social skills in a quiet, welcoming environment. These calm spaces are proven to improve student wellbeing, support better classroom integration, and foster emotional resilience.

“We’re honoured to be able to assist in this meaningful initiative,” said Lion President Denise. “Creating safe, nurturing spaces within schools is essential for helping all children thrive, especially those who need extra support.”

This donation reflects the Lions Club’s commitment to supporting youth and education in the community, in alignment with Lions Clubs International’s global cause of empowering young people.
