Lions helping to save lives in your local community

In 2016 The Chepstow and Caldicot Lions decided on starting a programme of funding for Public Access Defibrillators (PADs). Since then the club has assisted in the purchase of 30 PADs for use in the Chepstow and Caldicot area, and some of the outlying rural villages. See below for a full list of defibrillator locations in the area.

How does the program work?

  • The Lions Club pays £600 towards the cost of a PAD.
  • The applicant then submits an application to the British Heart Foundation part-funding scheme for the balance.
  • When approved, the applicant receives a defibrillator and a Call Push Rescue training kit containing an educational DVD and resuscitation training manakins, to allow the community to learn life-saving skills.
  • If requested, the Ambulance Service and the Community First Responders can attend a training session in your community. This would help build confidence should a person find themselves in a situation where they are required to use a defibrillator for the first time.
